Friday night SB & I tripped the light fantastic in downtown Sch'dy.
1st stop was Bomber's Burrito bar. 3 words people: Blood. Orange. Margaritas. The Sch'dy Bombers is very very very clean, much cleaner than their Albany cousin. Bit heavy handed w/ the tequila but still damn tasty. SB says they have the best wings EVER. Perfect blend of crispiness and spicy sauce.
$9 per ticket bought us entrance to the GE Theatre at Proctor's to see The Toxic Avenger. It was gross & the acting was terrible but it's still a classic. Lloyd Kaufman was there (head of Troma Films & creator of Toxie) to do a Q&A & sign stuff. SB got his copy of Blood Sucking Freaks signed.
Lots of interesting facial hair on most of the gentlemen folk in the audience. I don't use the word hipster but.......
Also, I found out that talking about 80s metal bands is a new pick up line.

1) Put your iTunes on shuffle. Give me the first 6 songs that pop up. !. "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" by The Beastie Boys off of my favourite Beastie Boys album "Paul's Boutique" 2. "Nuage Fractal" by Voivod, cybernetic pro-environmental metal 3. "Wild Thing" old school Liz Phair song, back before she had a record deal 4. "Catholic Education" by Teenage Fanclub, this has no impression on me as it is on a compilation CD 5. "Jamie" by Weezer, so cute! 6. "Soul Suckin' Jerk" back when Beck was still mowing lawns.

Bring me the Heart of Snow White!
Top Chef recap time!
And it's wagons ho as the remaining cheftestants travel onwards to San Antonio. There's a place I've always wanted to go to....warm weather, excellent food, beautiful scenery.
There's tension w/ the female cheftestants as the majority of them hate Beverly.....turns out the men hate her too because she's always under foot in the kitchen. I don't hate Bev and I don't like her. Definitely middle of the pack for me.
And that French sweetie Eric Ripert joined Padma in the kitchen for the Quickfire. I really really enjoy Msr. Ripert, he's insightful, knows a good plate of food when he sees one & never is mean spirited in his criticisms. Are you taking notes, Tom Col(dick)io?
For the Quickfire, the cheftestants had to yank ingredients off a fast moving conveyor belt. You snooze, you lose. However, the longer you spend looking for tasty ingredients, the less time you have to cook. The losers were Stupid Hair Accessory Chris, waited for the best stuff: foie gras, lobster & vanilla bean. His flavours did not gel. Seriously, can we get rid of this guy already?! He sucks. Grayson, awww, for too much citrus on her Dover sole & Paul's overly bitter bitter melon & mussels broth. Beverly would have won the Quickfire had she been quicker to plate her tofu. Lindsay won by a technicality w/ her grouper and clam bouillabaisse. Always the bridesmaid, aren't ya, Lindsay?
For the Elimination Challenge, Charlize Theron showed up to plug her upcoming film Snow White & the Hunstman & challenged the cheftestants to make wickedly dark, evil, Gothic meal. That is an awesome awesome concept! I loved this! Cooking doesn't always have to be pretty and sweet. The judges loved all the plates and it really came to to nitpicks to choose a loser. The winner for the week was Paul and his foie gras & bacon, pumpernickel, pickled cherries and beets enchanted wicked forest. If you nixed the foie gras, I would shove my face all up in that! Getting the boot was Bev....whoa! It really did seem like a difficult decision for the judges to make and somebody had to go.
One thing has been nagging me though....usually when a famous non-food person is a guest, they have an "entourage" or bunch of extras to dine w/ them. But not Charlize! Does she not have any friends?

Today we ripped off a blogger named Tense Teacher of the blog Tense for a Reason. (Yes we know that we've ripped her off not so long ago as well. It's pretty amazing since she stopped posting in 2007. But that's where we live as a thief). Also, it's long so we'll do it in parts. She does not say where she got it from. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time.Take the time to comment on other player's posts. Shake it, Shake it, Kinnaree
There's a little Japanese/Thai/Korean joint on Lark Street that occupies the place where a Taste of Greece was once housed. It's called Kinnaree. They have been there for exactly one year & for the one year anniversary they offered 20% off yr entire bill for a whole week. HELL YEAH!
Check out their awesome varied menu
Sexybeast had the shumai, miso soup and the crispy duck w/ jasmine rice. I think he enjoyed it, he mostly made snuffling noises & didn't speak much through dinner.....I thought I heard, "Can't talk. Eating!" I had the steamed edamame, one of my most favourite things ever, & spicy stir fried pork w/ string beans & peppers and jasmine rice. So NOM NOM NOM!
Two thumbs up!

Boy vs. Girl
Top Chef recap time!
There was no Quickfire Challenge this week as we've reached that time in the show for....Restaurant Wars! And guys versus gals. Naturally, Ed thinks he has a better team and the ladies think Beverly is a life suck.
Sarah proved herself to be a stealth bitch, she picked at every single thing Beverly did, including bitching about her making short ribs "again". The ladies' "Half Bushel" restaurant made better dishes than the fellows' "Canteen". Though Canteen had better service, the judges were not wowed by the food. AND if your going to call a dessert Almond Joy there better some fucking coconut in it! Ty-lor missed the mark and was sent a-packin'. I'm quite surprised because Stupid Hair Accessory Chris made the misnamed dessert and did absolutely nothing else. Biding my time for that louse to get the chop next.
And Sarah can suck on Beverly's rib bones because Beverly was singled out as the big winner this week. Sarah & Lindsay took upon themselves to bitch and moan about this. I'm gunning for Grayson to win, as she is assertive without being an asshole & she's fucking amazing chef.
Team Grayson!

Mrs. Peacock in the Library with the Candlestick
Sometime around Thanksgiving, my SIL, "Tamantha" & I, were discussing the game Clue (or Cluedo if you are so inclined). She had purchased Clue Jr. for my niece and nephew & they were thoroughly enjoying it. Tamantha & I played a round, there was no murder but it was a cute beginners version of the game I sincerely adore.
For Christmas, I gave Tamantha & my brother Pablo, another version of Clue...Clue the travel card game. Fun & cute but it only whet my ravenous appetite to play THE REAL DEAL. Lucky for me, my other brother's girls had brought up Clue for our annual after Christmas get together in the Adirondacks.
It was like I stepped into the Twilight Zone! The characters were changed, the rooms were different, the rules of the game were more complicated. WHY? Why is Miss White no longer an old frail serving wench? Where did the library go? Why are there extra weapons, one of which looks suspiciously like an Emmy Award? A little piece of my childhood died.
The other day, my in-laws invited me to poke around their newly organized basement to unload some of SB's crap he left behind & to see if wanted any of their used junk. Lo and behold! there SB's old game of Clue. I was slightly disappointed that it was the re-worked 80s version of the graphics on the box & on the game cards & game board. They used illustrations rather than photographs but at least it kept the integrity of the original look of the characters.
The lead pipe was missing, we used a penny in its place.
