Pat my Back

Even though, I have wicked PMS, I fucking kicked ass at boot camp today. I had to run for 3 minutes after completing 20 minute circuit course. I did not run quickly but I did not stop.

Erp....I have nothing more to say. Feeling kind of blocked.

Ideas? Seriously, I'll blog about anything.

Blocked

Lately, I've been questioning my abilities as a writer. I've sat down in front of the lap top this weekend and I started and stopped a million times. I tried a different tack and decided to write the scene I saw in my head, that worked for my story that got published. CRAP, UTTER DRECK! I can't make it work and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have it all inside, I think, but it's stuck.

I feel like giving up....

Green Eyed

I hate my jealous side. It lurks and lingers and will never ever go away. And it makes me loathe myself even more.

I'm still looking for happiness in my job. I had a shit job working a hospital for 7 years doing mindless monkey work. And now I'm in a position where I have to shoulder so much responsibility, I think I'm going to fall to pieces from the pressure.

This weekend I was having a conversation w/ a friend type person. She recently quit her stressful bullshit job, for #1 to spend more time w/ her 1 y/o daughter and for #2 the company was a disaster, to go work for fellow blogger Jackie, http://littleluxuriespads.blogspot.com/. Low stress, Jackie is a cool chick, and there's other little ones to hang w/ the baby.

That oh so familiar GRR ARG feeling whooshed over me. I wish I had a cool idea or had a great opportunity to get involved w/. Why not me? Why is it always going to be against the world?

So, I'm going to stop being such an ass. I'm throwing myself back into writing.

I Walk the Line

My eyes are not closed. I'm looking demure w/ fierce black eye makeup.

Isn't this gorgeous? My swap meet friend Zom (http://zomadventures.blogspot.com) sent me this amazing package. At the top we have few of her fave recipes, I can't wait to try out the cherry ice box cookies, representing a new beginning we have some earth and seedlings (Bells of Ireland), an awesome handmade scarf (my grey coat is very happy about this!) and a fancy pen and pad of paper. All made even better w/ an eloquent and sweet note on pretty fancy papers and ribbons.

I really happy about that last gift, sometimes I get an idea or a phrase and now I have a way of remembering my genius. Oh wait, that's right. I can't write anymore. I have no spark for it right now. So I'm counting on that gift to smack some inspiration into my cloudy head.

I also learned something important. I immediately starting comparing myself to Zom. The attention to detail, the legible handwriting, the thoughtfulness of each gift. How can I measure up? But I won't. I'm gonna give her a Phairhead style of gift, sloppy, weird and awesome.

We went to one of our local pubs last night for the Johnny Cash Birthday Bash. A night of music celebrating The Man in Black. I drank seltzer w/ lime slices all night. The highlight was this 10 year old kid that played guitar and sang my theme song "A Boy Named Sue". Good times good times.

I don't want everyday to be like Sunday.

NaNoWri Blows!

So, it's day #10 in the NaNoWriMo countdown. I've written about 11,ooo some odd words. Yesterday I wrote nothing. My brain went fizzzzzzzzzzzz. So, I'm approaching this venture without paying any mind to where the daily goal should be. I should be at 15,000. But whatever. I'm saying I won't see the project to until the bitter end but I'm going to break down if I don't make it to 50,000 words.

NaNoWriMo Day #1

Welcome aboard to novel writing madness airlines. We have 30 days to complete our journey. We will be attempting to complete 50,000 words. That's aprox 1700 words per day. I think I know what I'm doing. Be prepared in case of a crash landing.

Exciting News

Well, peeps I'ma bite the bullet. My still untitled short has been complete for several months now and on the advice of some friends, I have decided to shop my meager work of art around. I bought 2010 Writer's Market Deluxe Edition at my local Barnes & (Ig)Noble. This bitch was 50 bucks! But so so worth it, it has some great chapters on to how sell yr writings. Not to mention, a HUGE listing of magazines and trade journals that accept unsolicited works. So far, I've only gone through to highlight the places I want to send my "baby" to and I've only gotten about half way through that. My aim is to have my shit sent out by the end of August.

If I don't succeed, at least I'll have rejection letters to cover the walls at my new house.

Whoa!

About 2 months ago I wrote about my frustrations with my writing. I finally fine tuned my story that I've been working on for the past 6 months and sent to a friend to edit.

I haven't heard back yet, so instead of hanging out in limbo, I decided to be more pro-active in my writing. Ick! I hate that buzz word "pro-active" but it fits.

The last time SexyBeast spent a weekend at my house, I was plagued by nightmares. ALL NIGHT. It was the pits. But from pain comes beauty. I put together a story based on my nightmares.

I've never had any interest in fantasy/horror but I figured it would be good for me to stretch the limits of my creativity.

I wasn't expecting much to come from it but as I was writing yesterday, I realized my throw away story has grown to 6 pages. Unfortunately, I am now stuck. So I'm sending it to HomerJ over at http://patweet.blogspot.com, he's an English teacher and has agreed to help me. Plus he's a great at being a "cheerleader".

And now I have a new perspective on writing and have lots of idea seeds busting out of my head.

writer's block

I am a writer. I love language, words, syntax. I love all of it, I get excited when I open a book.

So why am I stuck on my story? It's been in the same place for a long ass time. I added a few sentences last night but it doesn't feel done. I decided to switch gears and work on something new. I have the story in my head but it doesn't want to come.

Please I need help. Any suggestions for getting my creative mind working again or if anyone knows any writers' groups in the Albany, Schenectady, Troy region I would really appreciate it.
