Or Some Thunk

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of a one eyed jack and the number 69.

1. There are a lot of emotions in life. Except for Mr. Spock. What emotionally scares you the most? Failure!!! Am I living life to the fullest? I just don't know anymore.

2. Do you have any present goals that are tough enough that you'd like to forget about them? Paying off my outstanding credit card bills

3. Your Internet service goes down. What would you miss the most? Playing Pop It

4. Name one thing that you do as a parent that you absolutely know will make your kids happy. If you're not a parent, feel free to substitute "friend" or nomenclature that works for you. (Nomenclature? Can you tell that I stole this question?) I'm not a parent, the family tree ends w/ me.
Substituting the word kid for friend, I make everyone happy w/ my giving spirit. Or something.

5. If money was no object, and you had a free month or so, what would you love to do? Travel, finish the attic.

6. Why did you start your blog? Was it because you were pissed at someone? I started my blog because I wanted to write and feel like I was being creative. Or something.

7. Kimber and Berleen (Thunks founders & BFFs) are finally going to meet in person. Who are you friends with in the blogosphere that you'd love to meet? Why? Sophia Walker because she's cool as ice.

8. When you were in high school, if you can remember back that far, what mistake did you make that you'd like to change? Not be such a doormat

9. Do you believe in forever, as in 'love forever'? Forever.....kinda hard because we all die. Everything dies

10. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being uninhabitable and 10 being cleanliness that meets the standards of OCD, what is you favorite romantic comedy movie? Romantic comedies suck donkey balls.

I would love Pop-it so much more if I wasn't too cheap to pay for Pogo membership...the "commercials" annoy the heck out of me.

Ria: right?

SL: word!

What about There's Something About Mary? Or Singles? Or Pretty in Pink? Or countless others that fit that genre, yet push the envelope of it?

phairhead said...

There's Something about Mary is a gross out comedy

Singles is a drama-edy...definitely not a romantic comedy

Pretty in Pink not a comedy

Got anything else, dumb ass?

Wow! Was the name calling really necessary? I was actually trying to add a few movies that could qualify. Maybe get a DIALOGUE going. I was thinking of all the parts that make those films that could fit the description. That is all I was doing. I wasn't trying to be an asshole, or put you down, or any of that.
Since you went shitty on me here are a few links/quotes about the movies:
From wikipedia, "Pretty in Pink is a 1986 American teen romantic comedy-drama film about teenage love and social cliques in 1980s American high schools."
IMDB's description:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091790/

There's Something About Mary:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129387/

And finally, Singles:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105415/

So, I am not the only one who thought that. Must make many more people dumb asses huh?

ummmm......i don't believe that for a minute

you wanted to point out how "wrong" I am

No. I wasn't. I actually enjoy those movies quite a lot, even with the tag "romantic comedy" attached. I am a fan of all three, and many more, movies that can be defined as "romantic comedies." There are shitty movies in every category there is. Even some award winning movies aren't worth the paper their posters are printed on. Why can't movies go beyond the pigion holes and categories they are placed in?
I know this your blog and all, but calling people names because you don't see something a certain way is uncalled for.
Honestly, all I was trying to do was expand the definition and start a dialogue like other people have.

Yr right, I was being a bit reactionary.

However, Singles et.al are not romantic comedies...not by a long shot. I don't thin I laughed once during Pretty in Pink

That feels a bit better. :)
Now, the rest of that being said, according to IMDB and my local rental shop, those movies are "romantic comedies." I don't see that as a bad thing really because movies are movies are movies to me. I'm only interested in good movies and my tastes allow me to like what I like, no matter the catergory.
The movies I brought up are better than the "normal" crap in that catergory for sure. Meaning the ones we hear so much about. Like, My Best Friend's Wedding, Runaway Bride, or most anything with Julia Roberts smiling big on the cover. Not that I hate her or anything. So, I can see why you wouldn't want to put them there. But, they do fit that "formula" in so many ways. At the same time, they really push the idea of a "romantic comedy" into being better than the rest. Not a thing wrong with that I hope.
