I admit it, I'm not a big beer fan. I hardly ever drank in high school, save the OCCASIONAL Bud. Which...eww! It tastes so tinny and gross.
My first semester at SUNY New Paltz, I had to keep up with the Joneses and I discovered I kinda sorta liked Corona, or at the very least it didn't gross me out as much as other beers.
After college, I stayed far far away from beer. Why spend my hard earned money I something I didn't really enjoy in the 1st place?
I've gotten older, my cute little taste buds have changed and I fell in love w/ Kreig cherry lambic. It's so sweet and bubbly and by the end of the bottle you don't realize how fucked up you are. It's awesome!!! Unfortunately, the shit is expensive and highly caloric, so, I temporarily switched to Coronitas Light. I figure w/ a salted lime I could choke it down. (That's a 7 oz. Corona Light for those of you not in the know) They're not bad if you drink them fast.
Also hailing from Mexico is Sol. A beer I used to drink non-stop during my semester abroad. If yr lucky enough to find it at yr local beer store, I say buy it. It's not a bad little lager and w/ a salted lime, c'est magnifique.
Then my pallet meet it's beer soul mate. Saranac Summer Ale. It's beer w/ lemonade! I'll say it again. Beer w/ LEMONADE. It's light and crisp and oh so delish!!! In Britain they would call it a shandy. I call it awesome.
Time for another round...

About 20 years ago when I was in France, cafes served a drink called Panache - beer combined with a sparkling lemonade. I guess it is the French version of a Shandy. The coolest part was that the lemonade was on tap. It was really good. I forget the name, but there was another, sweeter version of the drink that added a dash of grenadine. I will definitely have to check this out.
lemonade on tap? is there anything the French can't do?
Panche + pomme fritte = NOM NOM NOM
Hmm. I'd like to say that your beer + lemonade combination sounds tasty and refreshing, but I seriously do not like beer. I'm glad you found something that you enjoy though.
Have you had iced tea mixed with lemonade? That's a good combination.
I'm making a Panace this summer. (I like Shandies, but they make me giggle and think "Shim")
Albany John 1st tried to get me into beer by mixing a warm one with gingerale. Dude. No. Bad combo. It took a few years before I'd go near beer again.
Now I like it. My tastebuds are so iffy with stuff sometimes. I had a 10 year kick or so with not liking pepperoni through childhood after loving it as a toddler. Then WHAM, back to love.
This is totally weird, but I've sorta stopped drinking. I have had alcohol or any sort in months, and I don't miss it one bit.
Shandy is nasty! I remember drinking it in England at the tender age of 14, thinking I was going to die. It just tasted wrong.
Yes, there is something the French can't do... Qualify for the World Cup without cheating! Yes, I'm bitter! I'm Irish, that's my right!
JAG: ah the infamous Arnold Palmer! Half iced tea, half lemonade, all tasty
AJ: supposedly, taste buds change every 7 years but taste aversion can be wicked powerful. Warm gingerale? Blech!
Lydia: I go in spurts, I'm all for taking an alcohol vacation
Homie: happy bloomsday!
